Anaphylaxis is a life threatening condition that can be triggered by specific allergies. It is important to be evaluated for the cause of anaphylaxis so that the trigger can be avoided or so that you can receive immunotherapy to decrease the likelihood of anaphylaxis.
The drug of choice to treat anaphylaxis is epinephrine. Any delay in receiving epinephrine could result in death. It is important that individuals who have had an anaphylactic reaction to carry their epinephrine with them at all times. School children that have had anaphylactic reactions should have an updated school anaphylaxis plan on file at their school.
